This has always been my favorite function to validate email address at server side:
function validate_email($email) {

if(!eregi("^[_a-z0-9-]+(\.[_a-z0-9-]+)*@[a-z0-9-]+(\.[a-z0-9-]+)*(\.[a-z]{2,4})$", $email)) {
$result = FALSE;

But soon i recover that it is not that perfect, any suggestion.

If you want your regex to match multiple email address separated only by semi-colons use this one.
Dude here goes a simple one for genuine user, need some trick for multiple as per your requirement

This function also check's if the domain exist and also validte your email local part.
